04: What Should My Podcast Be About?

Your podcast concept is the specific topic that your podcast is about. It’s super-important to have a tight concept so that your podcast is unique and findable. If your concept is too broad, it will be harder for new listeners to find you and harder for your podcast to rise in the ranks.

In this episode, I discuss why you need a narrow concept. I give you example of tight podcast concepts: The Doodle Pro™ Podcast and this podcast. I make suggestions for narrowing broad topics. And I walk you through the steps to picking a narrow podcast concept. 

1. Write down your broad idea

2. Break up your broad idea into smaller topics

3. Decide which smaller ideas you are most expert at and which most support your business

4. Make sure your smaller ideas are big enough to talk about for as long as you want to podcast

5. Look at other similar podcasts and find a gap that your can fill to make yours truly unique
